Title: Commotion in the Ocean

This book has some really great, catchy rhymes to accompany young readers on their exciting sea adventure! We meet a lot of familiar sea creatures, from dolphins to jellyfish, sharks to great blue whales. Each friendly-looking creature is described with easy flowing rhyme and bright colourful illustrations. The more we grown-ups get into the rhymes, the more enjoyable the book seems to be for children! My version became very rap-like on a few of the pages! Lots of fun to read, and my son had memorized the endings of many of the rhymes after a few bedtime encores. A great way for beginning readers and preschool children to learn about these sea creatures!
Title: Duck Dunks

You probably won't get past the cover without a giggle or two! There's just something about the combination of those two words, Duck Dunks, that drew some easy giggles from our four-year old during our read of this children's book! Duck Dunks is a very sweet, very cute story about five little ducks and their day at the beach. Unlike some rhyming books that trip up the reader, this book flows well in perfect rhyme. The watercolor illustrations of these happy ducks enjoying a stroll on the boardwalk, a dip in the water, lunch and a little kite-flying are a real treat. Charming, not too long, a perfect choice for bedtime!
Title: Dancing Dinos

We really enjoyed this book! The simple rhyming, flowing text teams nicely with the hilarious illustrations of a boy and his new dinosaur friends! In Dancing Dinos, a boy reading a dinosaur book is surprised to find that the dancing dinosaurs can leap right out of the page, and into his house! We follow their adventure through the house as the dancing dinos start having a bit too much fun, creating quite a mess! That is, until they run into the boy's father! As the father wonders about what he just witnessed (dinosaurs in the kitchen, just not your everyday sight!), the dinos scurry back up the stairs, to the boy's room and dance right back onto the pages of their book! A delightful read that had our preschooler laughing! There are other Dancing Dino books and we are looking forward to reading the others!
Title: Crocodiles Play!

When I first flipped through this book at the library, I wasn't sure whether my son would like it...but the book had a certain "je ne sais quois" charm to it and so I decided to borrow it anyway. Well, my son loved this book, and giggled over many encore reads! The book consists of the following silly, repetitive format: a sport is described in much detail on a two-page spread, and then revealed in the next spread. The book goes through a handful of sports. After your children hear the words and sees the illustrations, i.e., the "clues", they will be very confident that they know exactly what sport the author is talking about. Only...the answers are almost always different than what they guessed, but in a very hilarious way! The auther intentionally does this to have a little fun with the readers. For your children to appreciate the humor in this book, they should be familiar with most of the sports in this book, like basketball, golf and baseball. The happy active images of crocodiles enjoying the various sports adds to the entertainment value of this book. A really fun read!
Title: Wiggle

This is a simple, fun book for preschoolers, sure to amuse! Throughout the book, silly questions in cute rhyme are posed to the reader. The questions relate to the title of this book, of course! And the host of the book is a friendly dog (who seems to like his fair share of wiggles ... and giggles! The questions ask the child readers about when they would wiggle, how would they wiggle, and so on. We especially enjoyed the excessive wiggling that causes a pancake to end up on the dog's head.
